BGMI Lite has a new name. Krafton India now calls its lighter version of Battlegrounds Mobile India “BGMI Air”. Over 10 million players have already signed up. If you’re interested in this lighter version of BGMI, you can find the release window, specs, account details, and sign-up steps below. Many things are still unclear as to how Krafton will handle the BGMI Air launch.
BGMI Air: What’s Confirmed So Far By Krafton
Not every BGMI Air claim online comes from Krafton. Here's where each one stands as of 18 October 2026.
| Detail | Status | What We Know |

Why did Krafton Rename BGMI Lite to BGMI Air?
Krafton India first teased BGMI Lite on 16 August 2026 with a short "You Asked" video on YouTube. Pre-registration opened nine days later. On 15 October, the game's Instagram page announced the switch to BGMI Air, alongside the 10 million milestone.
Krafton gave no reason for the new name. The timing, though, offers a clue. On 24 September, the global PUBG Mobile Light became PUBG Mobile Flash. Fans expected a "BGMI Flash" next, but Krafton India chose its own path.
Our take: "Lite" carries baggage. The old PUBG Mobile Lite was a separate, scaled-down game with smaller maps and 60-player matches. "Air" sounds like the same BGMI, only easier to carry around.
BGMI Air Release Date and Open Beta
Krafton still plans to launch BGMI Air in India by the end of 2026. It hasn't named a date. An open beta comes first so players can test the game and share feedback.
Some reports point to a November launch. Krafton hasn't backed that, so treat any exact date as rumour until the official Instagram page posts it.
BGMI Air Download Size and Minimum Requirements
Storage is the real story here. Standard BGMI can grow to around 8GB once you add its resource packs. BGMI Air starts at roughly 1GB.
| Spec | BGMI | BGMI Air |
| Storage | Around 8GB with resource packs | About 1GB to start, full size TBA |
| Minimum RAM | 1.5GB | 1.5GB |
| Minimum GPU | Adreno 306 | Adreno 306 |
| Platforms | Android, iOS | Android, iOS TBA |
Here's what most coverage skips. BGMI's own help page lists the exact same minimum RAM and GPU. So on paper, BGMI Air lowers the storage bar, not the hardware bar. How smoothly it runs on a cheap phone stays an open question until the beta.
Your BGMI Account, Cross-Play and UC
You won't need to move your BGMI account to play BGMI Air. Krafton says existing players can access it separately, with no transfer. Gaming outlets also reported cross-play in August, which would let squads mix both apps.
One big question remains. Will your UC, skins, and Royale Pass progress show up in BGMI Air? Krafton hasn't said. For now, UC still matters in the main game. The BGMI 4.6 update runs its Diwali Prize Path until 15 November. If you're topping up for that, the BGMI UC voucher on StanShop sells below face value.
How to Pre-Register for BGMI Air
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone.
- Search for BGMI Air.
- Check that KRAFTON publishes the listing.
- Tap Pre-register and confirm.
Signed up back when it was BGMI Lite? Krafton counts every sign-up since 25 August in its 10 million total. Your earlier registration should still stand, but open the listing once to check.
Note: Skip any website offering a BGMI Air APK or an iPhone download. Krafton hasn't released either.
Should You Wait for BGMI Air?
BGMI Air makes sense if your phone keeps showing "storage full" warnings. It also suits players who quit BGMI because of its size. If BGMI already runs well on your phone, Air offers nothing new yet. iPhone users have to wait.
Until the beta drops, our list of the most popular games right now can fill the gap. Top-ups for most of them sit in the gaming gift cards range on StanShop.
