Is the PlayStation Store gift card region locked?

Yes. It only works on an account registered to the United States. Sony confirms that voucher codes can only be redeemed in the same PlayStation Store region, and that an account's region cannot be changed, because it was selected when the account was set up. Check your country in your account settings before buying. A US code on a non-US account will fail and cannot be corrected.

What can I buy with a PlayStation gift card?

Anything sold on the US PlayStation Store: games, add-ons, in-game currency, pre-orders and PlayStation Plus. Two limits matter. Gift cards only work on digital products, so consoles, accessories and PlayStation Gear merchandise are excluded. Movies and TV shows are also out, as Sony stopped selling and renting them on the PlayStation Store on 31 August 2021. If you are buying PlayStation Plus with wallet funds, you may still need a payment method on your account.

Does a PlayStation gift card expire?

PlayStation's US terms do not set an expiry date on wallet funds, so a redeemed balance stays on your account. Sony still advises checking the voucher itself, as some codes carry a printed expiry date. Two other rules are worth knowing: funds added to your wallet cannot be refunded, and a code can only be used once.

Where is my code and what if it does not arrive?

Your code is emailed to you, usually within minutes of payment clearing. If it is not in your inbox, check your spam and promotions folders first, as automated delivery emails are often filed there. Delivery can take longer while a payment is being verified. If the code still has not arrived, contact StanShop support with your order details.

What if my code does not work?

Check that all 12 digits are entered correctly, since a 10-digit code is a discount code. Confirm your account region is the United States, as a mismatch is the most common cause. Check your transaction history, because a code can only be used once and an already redeemed one appears there. If that is clear, check the PlayStation status page, then sign out and back in. If it still fails, contact StanShop support.
